Brother generally makes pretty good products I have a networked laser printer and the QL-720NW from them. The QL-720NW is fairly easy to setup I used the ethernet connection as opposed to the wireless connection. Plug it in your DHCP router assigns it an IP my Mac picked up the printer as a Bonjour printer. You'll need to download 3 pieces of software from the Brother website:[...]- Stand alone drivers- Software updater which gives you firmware updates and more label templates for free- P-touch editor which is the software for printing labels. (You'll need the last 9 digits of the serial number for your printer which is located on the bottom of the printer)You need the drivers the software updater and P-touch software are optional but I've never tried printing labels without P-touch. There's also an iOS app from the App Store you can download on your iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch. Once you've installed the drivers if you're on a Mac you can install the printer under system preferences, there's one small catch. Make sure you select the CUPS driver instead of the AirPrint driver because P-touch won't work with that AirPrint driver, if you make a mistake just remove the printer and re-add it with the CUPS driver (both drivers are installed when install the driver package). The P-touch software isn't very user friendly and I wish Brother spent as much time documenting how to use P-touch for Mac as they do for Windows. One of the things you probably want to do with this label printer is print mailing labels, P-touch can use the address book on your Mac.Here's where it gets confusing, if you want to make custom formats for your labels for example selecting certain fields from your address book or even combing fields you need to select Address book as the database than click "Connect Fields". Connect Fields lets you combine fields together and add any necessary punctuation for example commas and spaces in your addresses. After you've created your custom layout, you need to click database "Merge into Layout" scroll to the bottom of the list and select your layout. Great so now you see your custom layout on the label size it to what you want. You're probably wondering how you actually see a label with an address before you print it. The only way you can do this at least on a Mac is in print preview, the annoying thing is that you can't adjust any font sizes or resize anything in print preview you have to go back out and adjust it than print preview again until you get it right. BUT... you can in the iOS app, the downside to the iOS app is that there aren't as many layout options and the editor isn't as full featured but ti does get the job done for mailing labels.Brother please give the Mac and iOS app more attention. The printer is fantastic it's very fast.I love this product. Fairly simple to set up, very easy to use and the results are amazing ! The reason I gave four stars is because of how complicated the setup is for Macintosh. When I tried to install using the provided software CD I got an error message stating that it was not compatible with my version of OS X (I'm using 10.9). So, I went to the Brother website, downloaded the software from their and tried to install. that way. The printer driver installed just fine but when I installed the P Touch Editor software I got another error message that the Editor software was not compatible with the printer driver! Finally, after some research I figured out how to make it work. Anyone running Mac OS 10.8 or higher, who is using a Wifi or Ethernet connection please follow these steps and save yourself a headache! For those using Ethernet1) Make sure that your QL 720NW is ON and plugged into your router with an Ethernet cable2) Click the Apple Icon in the Menu bar and select System Preferences3) In System Preferences go to the Printers and Scanners Menu4) In the Printers and Scanners Menu there is a Box that shows a list of the Printers currently recognized by your Mac5) At the bottom of this list you should see a + and a - sign. Click the plus sign.6) A list will appear that shows printers currently available printers. Find Brother QL720NW and click on it7) That's it! Let the Mac install the printer driver software. Then install the P Touch software and everything should work. For those using Wifi:1) Follow the instructions in the instruction booklet to activate the printer's WiFi capability2) Then follow steps 2 through 7 in the Ethernet section above to install your printer. If anyone from Brother reads this review, Please, Please, Please Update your instructions and Software! The software you send with your product is out of date. Considering what a great product this is, it is a shame that you do not put more effort into making sure the instructions and software are compatible with the latest operating systems. It caused me a headache that nearly made me return the product all together.I got it for printing labels etc. Setup took me a bit longer considering I am a novice, but certainly less than 30 minutes. It works beautifully. I can print from my Mac, PC and mobile phone. Labelling is a breeze. Now there no excuse for not finding a pen!!!! Shopping items needing a date of purchase gets the labels done in seconds. Every one in the household has the app on their phone so they just print it. The various sizes are great for label making. From printing addresses to file names, changing spools and printing is beautiful. I love that it cuts the label for you. A definite plus. Space wise, it occupies little space. I set it up in a high traffic area so any one who needs a label and is linked to my WiFi, can print on the go. It is the best label printer I have. Simply love it.Buena impresora, producto de calidad, un poco difícil configurar el sistema inalámbrico, pero una vez que ya esta configurada, funciona muy bien, el software trae formatos de etiquetas preestablecidas, lo cual ayuda bastante, y la opción de crear tu propio formato de etiquetas, lo que no me gusta es que te llena el panel de control de archivos de impresión. la calidad de impresión buena para los textos, y aceptable para las imágenes, aunque claro es para etiquetas principalmente , producto recomendableThis is a great printer, and should be able to connect to pretty much anything as it supports Wi-Fi, Ethernet, USB, and a 1980s-style serial port. Printing is exceptionally fast, labels are spat out individually almost immediately after you click 'Print'.The only small issue I ran into is that printing from Mac web browsers doesn't work unless the printer is added as an 'AirPrint' printer, instead of using the Brother drivers.I never like to review a product right after receiving it because you never know what can go wrong. We bought this label printer for our online business and it has now printed over 1000 labels trouble free. The print media is affordable too and because it's a thermal printer, no ink to worry about. I'm still working on getting it on wifi. Right now it's just ok a USB cable from my computer and works great. Very impressed!I was worried that this product, like its competitors, might not function with Windows 10. But, right out of the box it functioned perfectly as advertised. One thing that surprised my was its speed - it's fast and labels pretty much jump out of the machine. Another likeable feature is the length of label is controlled to what you set - creating labels for file folders for instance maximizes the print area and fit perfectly to the space available on the file folder. The actual printing is clear and clean. So, no demerits for this product only pluses ...One other thing; I originally ordered this through a vendor to amazon.ca - the vendor apparently flat-lined and became non - responsive. My credit card was charged but hats off to amazon.ca who refunded my money without question. I then ordered from amazon.ca and this machine was delivered within the promise date.
